idle adjustment

Post by kevera »

I was wondering if anyone has adjusted their idle screw. The manual says not to adjust it, my idle around 500rpm in gear(automatic).I finally cleaned the throttlebody and it got rid of the rough idle, but I find it idles to low and it should be around 700-900 rpm.

You can adjust it, many people have. Just make sure you don't set it too high!

There is an adjuster screw on the end of the throttle cable but the screw has threadlock marking on it,so it made me a little nervous about touching it.

Holy smokes, I didn't know the idle had any adjustments! That's cool...They said mine was idling too slow too when I brought it in for the rough idle. I don't know if they did any adjustments. In drive and holding the brake it would idle ~650 RPM when it was happy, sometimes would get down below that, I saw 500-something RPM's on the scangage more often than I would have liked to...P.S. I'm glad that helped your rough idle! Cleaning the TB helped mine, that's for sure.
