Motor Mounts for Automatic

Post by Petrucci914 »

Hello,I was looking at the Energy Motor Mounts but they stress for manual transmission use. Can I still use them on my automatic or what's the deal? I was told that they are direct replacements and was told by others that they are additions to the factory motor mounts. What is the right answer? Where could I order the factory motor mounts for a good deal? I thought I was having tranny problems and I had it flushed with Amsoil but that didn't really help. Going on the highway it shifts just fine but driving in the city is really jerky. If I am slowing down for a red light and then it turns green and I step on it again it shifts pretty ****ty. I read some issues that bad motor mounts do to transmissions and it almost seems as if the engine if shifting back and forth. Any ideas on this? Thanks!

if the engine IS moving that much then it is likely the mount is broken.the energy suspension kits are usually inserts not replacements. With the kit being for a manual you might be able to use part of the kit but not all of it... just the pieces that fit your car (if there are any)i did this with my 97 Prelude... no kit for it but the 96 was mostly the same so I used what i could and donated the rest to a buddy with a 95

I think that the auto mounts are different and softer because of the extra vibrations from load at a stop. Like I said, I'm not certain but it's a common practice. The aftermarket inserts probably wont fit. If you want it firmer, you could try the stock 5 spd mounts if you can find a set.

yea the Energy ones dont fit. What ive read to do is one of 2 things. 1. get your own polyurothane mix stuff and squirt it in the mounts (take them out of your car) so you make your own solid mounts of out of stock ones.2. Get the gt's motor mounts and replace them with your stock ones. When i do mine ill prolly go with the #1 option as its super cheap and works well.

that's funny, i logged in this morning to ask this exact same question. I pulled the front mount and injected window weld into the open gaps and let it dry. Didn't really notice any difference. I may have to work the rear ones as well to get the full effect. I was hoping for solid mounts, but haven't seen any. The tactile feedback felt with sold engine mounts is awesome!

once they are solid your car should shake a little more hahah and less wheel hop and engine shake when you accel. Also a engine damper would be a good thing if you want to lessen the work on the mounts and want your engine to not to move so much.

Does anyone make an engine damper for the Vibe? Or has anyone made one for another car work? I haven't seen or heard of one yet...

There was one for the celica from japan but it was some insane amount of money and i think it was from c-one or brash something like that. But Weapon-R has some I was thinking of getting one and then custom fabbing the brackets. But no one makes one specific to out cars.
