smashy smashy

Post by jwalcik »

i learned this morning that broken glass is far easier to clean up when your windows are tinted. unfortunately it'll be a week before i learn what sort of replacement stereo farmer's is going to give me (the folks who broke my window were kind enough to steal my stereo and scratch up my door, my dash, and my AC controls).i've got to find some place to live that has a garage...regardless, i've got to say that once again, farmer's insurance customer service has been nothing but top notch. i'm very impressed.

That sux dude, I know the feeling though (only on a larger scale), it eats me up that people are so inconsiderate that they just go around taking what ever they want, they don't even think of the people who have to live with what they caused.

Quote, originally posted by Mrizzle05 »got pics? just to see the damagei didn't take any before i cleaned up the glass, but now that i've gone over everything with a calmer mind, i definitely need to take some. they damaged my driver side door along the B pillar, they scratched up the panel on the door above the door handle on the interior, put a nice gash in the leather on the steering wheel, and scratched up the dash and trim a few places around the radio. the interior of the console is also mangled enough that when i threw the factory stereo back in, i was only able to get three of the four screws in. they also took the scosche line level adapter that went between my alpine head unit and the factory amp. oddly enough, they didn't touch my ipod (which was in the glove box). update: pics

Sorry to hear about that.My parents had Farmer's insurance until one day, out of the blue, they just cancelled them. They're only response was that us 'kids' were too much of a risk. Mind you that the youngest 'child' was 19 at the time and the oldest was pushing 30. Good luck with your new system!

It was after she and I both cut our hands cleaning up the glass in her car after it was broken into 3 times in a month...amazingly enough a police officer caught someone trying to do it a 4th time and the guy confessed to having broken it the 3 prior times. It was at her old apt complex and the guy thought she kept parking in his space (#12)...it turns out that his space was #21...Anyways, sorry to hear about your car being jacked up...since there is no more stereo anyways, how about something like a nice carPC?

Smashy smashy

Post by jwalcik »

This afternoon my girlfriend and I were on our way back to my apartment after running some errands. I was pulling up to a light less than a block from my complex. The road we were on is one way in each direction, and for the direction we were traveling, there's no dedicated left turn lane. As I approached the intersection, a black Tahoe in front of me pulled out into the intersection to turn left. The Tahoe stopped with their rear wheels well past the stop line. A car was coming from the opposite direction, and the light turned yellow. I slowed down and stopped a good 10 feet *behind* the stop line because I didn't know what the Tahoe might be up to. Turns out, the driver in the Tahoe decided to throw it in reverse and start heading my way. As soon as they started moving, I laid on the horn (Hella Dual Tones). About four seconds later, their trailer hitch was punching a hole in my front bumper and the Vibe jerked backwards. Some time after all of that, the driver realized that they'd hit something.Nobody was hurt, and the Vibe is more than drivable (I think it just needs a new bumper and replacement trim pieces). We pulled off into a parking lot and exchanged information. The woman's insurance company doesn't have a 24 hour number for filing claims, so I left a message and will have to wait and hear back from them tomorrow. What an end to what had been a really relaxing weekend.

that sucks. i can only imagine if you had not left the roomover the past 2-3 weeks i was almost rear-ended twice. people really need to put down the cell phones and take the dogs off their laps. i cant stand it when people get bumper at lights, it would be nice to see their hood through the rearview

Sorry to hear about your Vibe. Some people drive like they're the only ones on the road. This driver obviously didn't even look behind to see if there was anyone there before she decided to back up. Sight lines on larger SUVs are pretty crappy anyway, especially out the rear glass. Most of them are up about two stories. I know its just a bumper and some trim, but it still sucks. Glad no one was hurt. Let us know how it goes.

Man, that SUCKS, and EVEN with a set of Hellas.... man.. I just ordered a set of the FIAAM 3 trumpet air horns I've spoke of here in that past for the Vibe... It seems in Michigan, the colder it gets the dumber people become... It's time I pulled the trigger on a set, they REALLY cut through the stereo/cellphone/screaming kids/soccer ballz.....Reference pic... Sorry to hear about the car, but, it's just plastic... it's what's inside that counts..

Quote, originally posted by WaveAction »any pics of the damage??Yup, here you go: You can see how the grills are recessed, and obviously, the hole in the bumper. Things have moved forward nicely with the other driver's insurance company, and I'll probably have the work done (at my body shop of choice) by the end of next week. The quote I got today was $960 for the bumper and grill replacement. They said it's likely there there's more damage to the crushable bits that mount the bumper to the frame (it's directly behind the hole on that side), but they won't know for sure until they have the bumper off.

wow, it doesnt look too bad, i mean i was expecting worse lol, but glad to hear that things have progressed with the other drivers insurance company. nothing worse then waiting for the other insurance company to get in on the whole deal, took me about 3 weeks to get this one ladies insurance company to finally get ahold of my insurance company for an accident

damn that sucks. i was polishing my car last nite (sunday) and my telescoping work light fell right on my car. it dented and scratched the crap out of the hood, chipped the paint on the fender, and scuffed up my left headlight pretty bad.i guess it was a bad day for 05 VGT's

Exact same thing happened to me over 20 years ago. It was a motorhome that went too far into the intersection and I was driving a 52 Ford pickup, when our bumpers hit I could see 3 or 4 people thru the rear window of the motorhome flying thru the air. It turned out to be pretty funny since no one was hurt and the bumper damage was minor.Ditto on the cell phone use.
