Houston Nov 17 & 18th

Post by tnpartsguy »

Looks like I might be in Houston for a few days, my wife has a conference she doesn't want to go to alone. I will be using the trip as the shakedown cruise for the new Vibe. I will have nothing to do during the day on Sat for sure. Anyone in the area?

I'm leaving TN Wens the 15th, probably going to leave for TX sometime the next day, getting to whatever Hotel we decide on (the conference is downtown, and Teena would LIKE to be close enough to walk if possible, so she doesn't have to depend on me for rides) sometime Thursday night. We'll be getting back on the road Sunday afternoon, as I don't have to be back to work until Wens the 22nd. I;ll IM both of you my cell #, ect a little later. The conference is at the Hilton Americas–Houston, but it's booked solid. Any advice on a decent hotel under $150/night nearby? (Under $120 would be even better!!)

The Hilton America's is only a few blocks away from where I work. You can check the the following hotels in Downtown that maybe in that price range:Doubletree400 Dallas St.Courtyard by Marriott916 Dallas St.Their are plenty of others but I don't know if you can find rooms for less than $200 a night. If you do a search online search for zip code 77002. That is the Downtown Houston area.FYI, the Hilton Americas is almost on the outskirts of central downtown, so more than likely you will have to drive your wife to the convention, unless she doesn't mind walking at least 10 or more blocks. If you need any more info, let me know, I'm really familiar with that area.-Shay

I walked her to the conference the 1st day, the next day she had found someone else staying at our hotel to walk with. I still walked back and forth the the conference at least 8 times over the 3 days. The Courtyard was neat, it was built in the old Humble Oil Building, one of Houston's 1st 'skyscaper's' (at a whopping 14 stories!!) Humble Oil was the parent company of Enco, Esso, ect, and was later renamed Exxon, btw......
