funniest thing ever seen a vibe doing?

Post by 1fstramand1slovibe »

i once passed an older couple in a vibe towing a pop-up camper that was easily twice the size of the car. all i could think of was a chihuaha trying to pull a bull mastiff. it looked so pitiful i felt sorry for the car i would hate to see what happened if they hit an incline

My most amusing was the transmission dying (ironically) on the way to the dealer to have them figure out why the transmission was shifting crappy and making weird noises. The noises were funny enough, it sounded like somebody doin' bad things with a sheep when putting it into gear. lmfaoAt the time in which it stopped shifting, I was ready for the looney bin. In hindsight, it sure was funny holding the pedal to the floor with the rev limiter kicking in continuously, and slamming the shifter through the gears and the only movement from the car was the rocking from the rev limiter that kept being hit... lol! Had to have my father come up with his dump truck and car trailer so he could rescue me and get the thing to the dealer. It happened on Sat. and they had no tow truck guy on the weekend at the dealer, and 1-800-roadsid would probably have tried to force me to go to a dealer i didn't approve of because they were closer. Made for a pretty funny picture...Much fun!

that isnt too bad. i mean this thing looked like it should have been a fifth wheel camper it was huge. so how does the vibe do towing? ive never towed but i used to work as a manufacturers rep and i have hauled about 10 80pd bags of concrete and myself and another passenger in mine and it squatted the back end pretty low and killed acceleration.

Actually it tows quite well. We take it every month to a lake about 70 miles away, all hwy. It gets hilly about halfway and the vibe never misses a beat.It is within 100 lbs of max tow weight (1500lbs), but when we get into the camping frame of mind, we just tow nice and easy.Start off easy on the pedal and slow on the brakes. It is kind of funny to see a brake controller by your left leg under the dash. I'll post a pic when I can. It has a digital readout that increases as you push harder on the brakes. The popup has electric brakes that work REALLY well. You can manually squeeze the brake controller to only apply the trailer brakes and I can stop the Vibe with the trailer brakes...

Really other than all the stares just love to see peoples faces and jaws drop when you tell them it spins 8,200 rpms and that it will run 130 mph
