Getting service at toyota dealer.

Post by kevera »

I just called my pontiac service for a tranny fluid and filter change and coolant flush. They want $266 for tranny fluid and filter, and $120 for the coolant flush.I called the toyota dealer down the street, and they said $89 for the transmission fluid and filter and $90 for the coolant flush. What a big difference in price. So,i decided to make an appointment at toyota, and when I told them I have a vibe,They said "that this is not a toyota product and even though it is on the matrix platform they will only service vehicles with the toyota badging."That was a total p%%&# off, they were even a little rude to me too,But look at the differnce in pricing between the 2.I guess I will go to mister transmission or aamco for the trans fluid change and do the coolant myself, but I will still have to go to toyota to buy the coolant arggggg.....

Hi kevera,That is a shame. I only go to Toyota locally for any service. They have been nothing short of excellent in their dealings with me. They treat me as if I bought the car there. Also had service done (coolant flush and fill) in a state 800 miles away 2 Falls ago, they also treated me well. This Toyota place of yours must not want your future business. I think these Toyota places I've been to realize that I may be looking for another auto dealer, not being satisfied with my local GM service center, so they treat me very well. Sorry this is happening to you... Maybe find another Toyota service dept to see if they're the same?Dave

I'll try,Does anyone else get their vibe serviced at a toyota dealer. The thing that bothers me is the price difference.Toyota charges $89 and pontiac charges $266,that's huge man, what a rip.

a dealership will service ANY car..even ones that are not there own.unless it is to much for them...ie a new z06 or ferrai or something.lol........what they told u is a crock of bull.....they just dont want your business..i would just call another toyota or gm dealership that may be close and get them to do it.and just spread the bad word about the other guys bad service.

Just go to a auto parts store or Walmart and get the green coolant, it works just as good, maybe better.

Dealerships have the right to refuse work on other makes and models not their own. Some have the mentality that since its not a car they sell and you didn't buy it there... that their customers are more important. I know if someone calls me up and says "Hey... Continental Subaru... will you do an oil change on my VW bug?" I'm probably going to say no. My lube tech is not familer with that model and we don't have parts for it. However if I was to get a call about doing an oil change on someone's saabaru as we call them. (the discontinued rebadged impreza under the Saab name) I would. We are very familer with that model even though it wasn't sold here.As for a toyota dealership not wanting to do work on a vibe... find another dealership. They should be happy to help you. After all they will only see you for service work and never warranty which is every service department's dream customer. As for the remark "buy the parts at wal-mart and do it yourself" while thats fine and good... doing your own oil change on a new car causes warranty issues. Proof of maintance can be required to get certain repairs covered so keep more then just a reciept. Keep a log book with everything if thats the root you choose to go.
