I'm going to be pulling around 1500w for my speakers (not a constant 1500w, but my sub will be getting 1300w or so and mids getting 100-200w). So basically, where can I buy a 110amp alternator, because I'm fairly certain I'm going to get major dimming with the 80amp alt that comes stock
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=21357 was a thread about a 160A one, but has an old ebay link to the source. damronjr bought one, I think he's happy with it, he might be able to remember who he bought it from
Yeah, it is great, let me find the store name on Ebay and post it up here. I'm pretty sure it's Ace Alternators.Edit: Yep, here's a link to the one I got:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

Yea, I'm not so sure though. I've never really worked on cars as far as stuff like that goes, I don't even know what half that stuff you just mentioned is. I don't know if you can, but can you take a picture of where it's at maybe so I'd at least know what I'm looking for?I do have another question though. Did you have trouble the first time you took your door panels off? My Ranger's were easy, but this I'm having a little more trouble with. It seems that all the little white things came off very easily, except the one farthest from the hinge up by the window. I simply couldn't get it off, and I didn't want to pull too hard for fear of breaking a car I just got...And also, when I was taking it off, I got the top right section of the panel out somehow and now it doesn't go back all the way, and the rubber think against the window isn't straight, it got like disconnected somehow and I can't get it back on. The window works fine and everything is great, but it's not completely straight and the top right of the door panel simply won't stay in all the way (not the part with the white thingies, but the very top right). Here's some pics to help explain I guess... This is what it's supposed to be like, the tweeter cover and door panel lining up perfectly. This is from the passenger side. As you can see here, it's not flush on the driver's side, the panel sticks out slightly and I don't know why. That's the passenger side with the tweeter cover off. That's the drivers side. As you can see, it sticks out and it's really bugging me. I couldn't get a good picture of the part where the window seal thingy came disconnect on that one side, but I'll try again later. As far as I can tell it's not harming anything, but it really is bothering me.
There are a crapload of pics here. You can see the new alternator and the connections. You can also see some pics of the engine bay toward the bottom of the page with some stuff removed and some good shots of the alternator. I think there is also a small bracket you have to remove from the old alternator and put on the new one for a holding clip for the wiring harness. Like I said, it is only 2 bolts (1 top and 1 bottom), 2 wiring clips, and 1 harness attachment.http://smg.photobucket.com/alb...ction/

Could you give me the links to some of those that clearly show it, because I can't really tell what's what in all those pics >_And just an estimate, how long would you say this little upgrade would take? And finally, does it affect gas usage very much?EDIT:That link says for '00 - '04, mine is an '05. Will that matter?
shouldnt only difference in 05+ is the DBW which is the different throttle body.So you should be golden

So that's it down on the bottom left? Yea, that looks pretty easy to get to. Still kinda bummed out about the extra cash I gotta spend though >_>And do you think I'll need a new battery right away? I do plan to get a yellow top sooner or later, but for now, I'd like to stick with stock (less $$$).
