I just bought a '06 Vibe in August and LOVE it. My husband thought he'd do me a great favor and had a remote start put on after market. When we got it back, my HVAC lights kept going out unless headlamps turned on manually. After 8 days at dealership they removed the remote start and had to fix a whole lot of wires. They thought they had the problem fixed. Picked up the car last night and the HVAC lights on dash went out again when I touched the window button. Does anyone have any ideas, other than "good luck". I really love this car and want it fixed right.
It was an after market add-on and the dealership is the one who has been trying to correct the problem that the after market vendor created. The dealership did not create the issue.
look on the vibe the connections are very wierd for a remote start i have a remote start and my friend works at best buy in the install bay and he helped me out we got stuck for a little while to where we should connect the ignition wire so that the car can turn on its wierd but you might want to have them check the connections under the glove compartment hope everything goes well
The remote start has been removed and due to the major screw up the after market dealer did, I won't be able to have one installed. I currently just want the car back to original working order. I'm just looking to see if anyone else has had the same problem. Dealership has informed me my warranty in this area has now been voided. Not good!
yeah because they have to splice into the wires but then again my older brother had it done on his car and it didnt void warrenty in that area its still coverd but then again Pontiac has always been reall hard on warrenty things thats why in a way im happy mine doesnt have warrenty any more lol
It's kinda funny, the remote start I put on my Vibe was my first full RS install, and it was probably one of the easiest to do.When your HVAC lights go out, is it because of a blown fuse, or do the lights actually burn out? Does the dimmer still work with the gauges? Have you had any problems with the parking lights or headlamps?Where did you get it installed? Little store or a big-name like BestBuy / Circuit City?

The HVAC lights will not come on unless you manually turn on the headlights. With all the things that have gone wrong with this everytime we took it back to the specalized shop that installs remotes, it was doing something different everytime we picked it up. We now have had the remote removed and wires replaced by the dealership as I don't believe the specalized shop had a qualified person working on it. When I pulled out of the dealers all worked fine until I touched the window button, I almost believe there was an electrical overload and the circuit broke as they went out and have stayed out since then unless I turn them on manually. Got any ideas?
installation is the most important part of the remote start.solder and heatshink tubing should be used. ASK EVERYTIME. NO (removed) connectors or splice in wire taps should ever be used.maybe in a fog light install or whatever but when you are messing with VITAL wiring you can't risk a bad connection.Of the 5 dealerships I have worked at only 1 had a specific aftermarket remote start and stereo installer. We all have had electrical techs that can put them back to stock but they never install them. I make a killing off of this stuff. Usually on jan-mar, when the connections are getting looser. The remote start wires into everything... look at that harness... every wire hooks up and conrols or monitors something. If the dealership removed the unit and put all the wiring back to stock you need to go back there to tell them about your problems that you are sill having. They should be soldering and making good wiring connections... so this will keep your warranty good, as you should have no problems with that connection therefore there should be no concerns with anything related. (ie. they will find that through the connection there is still signal or currant flowing though so the module is the problem not the wiring to said module) If it gets voided at dealer A go to dealer B as they will likely not report it to GM.OR take that bill back to the shop you got it installed at and get your money back. You should have gone there in the first place if it was just installed... maybe they could have fixed it then. it does not however look like they know what they are doing, I would lean on the dealer to remedy the HVAC concern and just try to get your money back.Done right, remote starts are my best friend... i dont have a garage and I dont scrape windows... on either car.

It sounds like the auto headlight system is having a problem. Do your taillights turn on when it gets dark automatically?Your recourse with the install shop might be fairly moot. They'll probably say they can't do anything because the dealership took out the stuff.

CAN-AWD-VIBEThank you for the info, after market shop that put it in does not know what they are doing. I took it back 6 times and each time seem something else wrong. Dealer put it back together but still have problem. After market paid the first bill, not sure if they are going to continue to pay. Dealer where fixed not dealer where purchased. They said it would take time and money to fix but warranty is now void. All wires were spliced or clamped and wrapped in black electrical tape. Pretty shotty! Dealer removed all that and had to install a portion of wiring harness. This time all wires were soldered. Not sure what module you are referencing. "they will find that through the connection there is still signal or currant flowing though so the module is the problem not the wiring to said module" Got a name for it?The AMarket shop thinks that when this is all corrected we are getting the remote installed again. Think twice! At this point, I'll let him think anything he wants, just as long as he pays the bill. I'll wait until I find someone who has worked on Vibes before even then pretty scarry to try it again. This has been a nightmare.
the module is just an example...if all the wiring is corrected properly and you have a problem down the road, then as long as the "repair to wiring" is good then they cant deny warranty on a faulty module or a switch or whatever.only if the wiring is proved to be too high resistance or not connected properly, loosing signal, then it will be deniedbut have no fear, your engine is covered, your front end, tranny, power windows are covered.Unless they find that the repair (that the dealer did) was not done properly.you really should have no further problems if done correctly.good luck... I am sure the next remote start you get installed will go better... just remember to ask about solder and heatshink. If it only takes 1 hour to install or if it is too good a deal then I would be leery.
