Redlava's (removed)? moment.

Post by redlava »

Today's topic is Tires Plus.I have a nail in the front drivers side tire. It has been slowly leaking for a few weeks now. I am getting new tires over the Thanksgiving holiday so I was putting it off as long as possible. The leak just got worse yesterday, I had to put in about 15 pounds of air so I could make it to Tires Plus down the street. I roll into TP around the crack of noon and ask if they have time to fix the tire. I had the option of waiting around for an hour until they had a break in their schedule or make an appointment for an opening at 2:00 that same day. I made the appointment. I come back at 2:00 and the guy said they would get it in the shop in a few minutes and get it fixed. I went into the lounge area and didn't hear anything for 30 minutes. I walked out to the lobby and looked out the window and my car hadn't moved. I ask the guy what's up. He said that they had a problem with another car and it was taking longer than they anticipated and would get to my car in a few minutes. I goes back to the lounge for another 30 minutes, then get up to check on the status and my car still hasn't moved. By this time it is 3:00 and I am getting a little anxious. I have to be at work by 4:00 and it is a 20 minute drive. The guy comes out and says he is getting my car in right now and then proceeds to drive it into the service garage. I ask another guy how long it it is going to take because I have to be to work in an hour and he replies 10 minutes. 3:15 rolls around and my car is still sitting in the garage and nobody has touched it. (removed)? So I finally tell the guy to not do anything cause I gotta go. The counter dude apologizes profusely and says the usual mechanic BS, we are understaffed, and it is busy, we double booked a reservation, yada yada yada. I will have to come back tomorrow and they said they would fix it for free. So I got that going for me, which is nice.Which brings me to my (removed) moment. I was the only customer in the building which means that all of the cars that they had in the garage were left there and would be picked up at a later date. Why wouldn't you take care of the customer that is here standing right in front of you. And it wasn't like it was a huge job that I needed done. Maybe I don't understand business logic well enough, but why not have an open bay at all times so the mechanics can take care of the customer like me who just needs a simple job done, and then I am out the door in 15 minutes. Seems like a good idea to me. Any other time I have ever gone anywhere to get a tire fixed (believe me I have had more than a few) I have been in and out in under a half hour at the most. Is this the way with all Tires Plus or is this just a retarded store. I had my springs installed in another TP and I had no complaints with the service. Maybe it is just me, but I thought it was messed up.

I think thats just the nature of tire shops its like you never get on the winning side of them. I wished they all functioned like a Nascar pit stop, but my luck I'd be the guy that ends up with a missing lugnut and my wheel rolling passed me on I-80
