My Sunday Morning!

Post by zionzr2 »

My wife and I were in a Very small accident this morning on our way to church. We were rearended approaching a red light. The Vibe is fine and was not invoved as we were in my wife's car.We both are perfectly fine and the car suffered only minor superficial damage. The rest of this story will have to wait abit till after I meet with the officer again tomorrow. It gets weird. UPADTE:In the words of Paul Harvey "...And Now its time for the rest of the story..."Well as stated my Wife and I were on our way to church. She was driving. We were on a oneway stretch of road and we notice a white Ford F-150 pickup sarting to tailgate and as we approach a red light as we were just stopped. "SMack" the guy Taps us. I get out right away and do a split second damage check. The other driver says all is ok and he just wants to forget everything. I say No I want the police. So I imedialty start to call 911 and explain whats happening the other driver starts to walk away towards oncoming traffic and motions others to steer clear and then He disapears into thin air, just abandoning his truck. He was gone before I was off the phone with the operator, I just didn't realize he had disapeared yet. After a few minutes the police show up and my wife and I explain the whole thing. The Policeman took our information and told us he found a "open container" in his pick up. He then let us go on our way saying he will likely be ticketed for open container and fleeing the sence of an accident. Later that day the officer calls and says he found the owner and that the owner denied driving the vehicle that morning. He then wanted to show me a picture asking if it was the individual that i saw.So today the police officer shows me the picutre and I am able to confirm that the picture was the guy that was involved. The officer then tells me that this guy was giving a whole drawn out story about what he was doing and why he wasnt the guy. He also told me that he did oddly enough have insurance. Now the officer is going to give this guy a thicker stack of fines. The officer was pretty upset with this guy for wasting the his time. All the officer wanted to do is ticket him and move on.I feel justice is being done. I'm happy no one was injured and only very minor damage was inflicted. My wife and I were both kinda spooked and had our nerves rattled pretty good. There are a few things I have little to no simpathy for and thats drunk driving and liars. The damage is so minor I doubt I'll involve my insurance. Later on I crawled under the rear bumper to check things out and didn't find any krinkles or compressions of anykind.

Hopefully, the other party involved don't go to your church as well. Talk about an unconfortable situation.

Why do people think they can get away with that stuff? The police have his truck with the beer can, and you can identify him as the driver. IDIOT!!!It is good that everything appears to be ok with the Vibe and nobody was injured.

UPDATE:Well the guy had his day in court. He was charged with Hit-and-Run. Pleaded guilty No-contest. Fines and totaling about $750.We sought no restitution and did not have to appear in court, for my wifes car suffered only superficial damage.
