how do i buy an 03 ecu?

Post by manicdan »

i have an 05 GT and so i wish to find the cost for an 03 ecu so i can get that extra bit of horsepower and the lower lift engagement. does anyone here know where to find it, and will it mess me up when i have to go to the DMV inspection?

you can try ebay, or here, or Matrixowners.com to find one in the FS sections. It shouldnt mess with the DMV inspections, cuz your just getting a lil more umph thats already there. *not 100% though*

Isn't the '05 GT drive by wire? In which case you couldn't use an '03 ECU.

I'm thinking for the power you would gain (keep in mind that a good portion of the difference is just correction for new specs standards) it wouldn't be worth your trouble.

the GT never went to DBW it was only the base model that did.AKA1zz 05+ = dbw2zz always was drive by cable (so any vibe gt ecu should work)For inspecition just keep the stock ecu and swap back and forth, shouldnt be hard its just plug in play.

You could also get the 04 ecu. The lift point is higher but they had more power before lift and I think that they were overall a bit faster. Also has the air pump like the 05 so the ECU may match better. (no cel?)
