I down loaded the new windows explorer 7. installed it and I powered up the computer (an emachine I've had since 2003 with no problems) on it comes up with a black screen that says "were sorry windows xp cannot start due to new hardware or software installed...."won't start in safe mode or recent config mode or any other mode. needless to say I'm pissed. so I reformat the hard drive and reinstall the original emachine disk.and reinstall ms office, photo shop, Norton system works, ect... been here 3 1/2 hours and I still don't know what I'm gonna do about the stuff that wasn't on my slave drive. *#@$* Microsoft.
crap! sorry to hear that. I know how that feels. I'm not as up-to-date with PC stuff as I once was (I'm a mac-man now ) but don't they have a stable version of that out now or is it still beta?
sry to hear thati know the feeling. i was getting blue screens and it was gettin progressively worse, i try fixin that n caused another problem n then another n another and windows repair(would get stuck, even let it to overnight) wouldnt work then formating and a clean install wouldnt work either.. including the overnight i spent like 27 hrs and finally got a clean install, still slowly installing programs as i use themif only engineering programs and games worked in linux
ie7 is now full version. damn man that sucksif you reinstall the OS over it self you can still get your data, but have to reinstall apps so they are in your registry. but with a mac and osx you can reinstall the os without losing any data or settings....if you wanna switch
Yes, a switch to a Mac sounds good... Or a Linux box. hehehe!Somebody put M$ Internet Exploiter 7 on a box here at work the other day, and personally, I found it horrible. The old version was crap, the new version is crap with supposedly more more appeal (barf!, the interface just looks crappy!) and that new fangled tabbed browsing thing such as like I've been using with Opera since 1999. lol!Probably better if one needs to stick with Windows to use a real browser such as Firefox or Opera. But that's just MHO.

actually IE 7 works great on my pc, been running it since beta. its nice to have tabs and a phising protector that works (my manager tested it with a link in his email). its not too bad, but windows is tough as it is putting sp2 on some systems )
Just yesterday we were told by Network support not to install IE 7 on our workstations and they enabled an IE 7 blocker on the automatic windows updates. Apparently it doesn't work with some of our software tools. I think I'll stick with IE 6 at home for now.

well it runs, I'm just not going to get IE7. like I said I've had it since 03 and never had a problem. we'll see I have a spare drive I might install another OS on it. *shrugs*
We'll I may play along and get IE7 at least on one computer for now...UPDATE: Seems to have installed just fine!! Now just have to get used to the layout.
The layout is a bit strange at first, but the Tabs and new security features are much better. IE6 has lots of holes in it. IE7 has fixed just about every known issue. Installing IE7 will make your computer more secure, weather you use it or not. I'm using IE7 and Mozilla 2.0 at home and work, everything works great.

more security is always good. I have several layers of security on all my systems. I use Firefox 90% of the time anyway, but there are occasions when IEx works better. (stupid developers need to code for more systems not just IEx)
IE7 is banned for staff/prof's on campus at my school because novell doesnt support it. Yeah funny thing...IE7 has some crazy issues with formatting some websites and working with some network apps, you'd think they be backward capable from ie6. just like xbox games on x360...not all the games work, MS cant code software super efficent so we have to suffer until the world updates to IE7 code stuff :/

Then I discovered the bliss that is firefox.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

They take standards, screw them all up while claiming them as their own. And the next release the "standards" are now different so nothing is compatible. The whole world will have to rewrite everything for the next version since m$ owns the world... There is shall never be backwards compatibility in a microsoft dominated world.
