Post by ragingfish »

So I'm cleaning out the basement today, and coming across tons of stuff where you just go "oh damn, I remember that!" Lots of cool old stuff. So I figured, I'm sure everyone else has, so this is the thread where you can post pictures of all your cool antique findings! Here's my first. For you suburbanites - remember "tenna-rotors?" How sentimental...Watch for more from me, I know there's more goodies down here!

That thing is probably older than you are.

Now I'm jealous!!! I've been wanting one og those for years. Any idea when it was made?

Sadly not my friend. I scoured that baby inside and out for some sign of a manufacture date, but could find none. All it says is manufactured by Stromburg-Carlson Tel Mfg Co.

This is my best find yet!!!LOOK! AN IPOD ADAPTER! Poor thing is beat to hell, but I spoke with my parents and I so fell in love with this thing we're gonna look into getting it repaired and restored. Turns out it belonged to my great grandmother.

This stuff is really cool, raging! You should put that "built in" antenna in your G6 I'm sure you'd get better reception.

About a year ago, I gutted a totally non-working multi-band cabinet radio about that vintage and installed low voltage dial backlighting so we could use it in our community theatre productions. I kept the original power switch to turn the backlighting on and off, and enough of the original tuning mechanism to turn the dial. Sorry, I can't find a photo of it with the dial lit at the moment. EDIT: Like your telephone, the radio is also a Stromberg-Carlson.
