exhaust... DONE!!!

Post by CAN-AWD-VIBE »

add another check mark in the installed column. after two exhaust shops (close to my house) telling me that 2.25" pipe was way too big and this little car will sound like a lawn mower I finally went back to the shop I have been using for the last 10 years. (far from my house now)They opened the shop door and we got down to business.2.25" from the cat back... added a resonator, magnaflow 14" muffler and a 4" tip. (the tip is too big for me but it was all I had to choose from unless I wanted a squarish one that hit the opening in the bumper)They used as much pre-fab mandrel bent pipe as they could but anyone familiar with the AWD exhaust routing knows that it is pretty snaky under that rear lower arm.bottom line... sounds freakin amazing... not nearly as loud as "they" thought it would be and to be honest it's a lot quieter then I thought too. The 4" tip will grow on me too... it looks ok. I almost want to go back to one of the shops and rev it up for them and show them what a real shop that "gets it" can do.Now I have to get my CAI installed so I am ready for that Unichip. It's a happy day

Great to hear that you got the exhaust you wanted. What kind of resonator are you running under the car.

Cool! Post a sound clip if you can. It will get slightly louder as it gets broken in.I would take it to those other shops and show it off. You're gonna love it once you have the CAI and the Unichip in.

very nice! i had a 4" tip, and it grew on me, you will like it. (the bigger tip will also help deepen the sound a bit)

ok... so first it is about time second it's just a resonated pipe, nice straight and simple, but I think it is was is keeping the "tinny" noise down.pics will come when I can get it back in the air with the axle seals repaired... I don't want to take pics of her broken and they are very much in view when looking underneath. (this sat.)sound clips will follow if I can figure it out.battery will get the old "reset" when the intake and Unichip get installed this weekend.this is the 3rd car with a 4" tip... I like it but my idea of keeping a semi-low profile has just gone out the window... it is big.
