Question For Goodyear Tripletred Owners

Post by stevo2000 »

I have just installed a set of Tripletreds and am trying to figure out what would be the best tire pressure for mileage, wear and tear and performance. The tires are rated at 44 PSI max.Goodyear refers to the vehicle manufacturer, and the owners manual states 32 PSI, not taking into consideration the make or quality of the tire and the applications, such as road surface conditions, climate, altitude and whatnot. I see it as a 'general' guideline, but without any real significance. I would like to get the most out of my tires, without sacrifizing comfort, fuel mileage & tire wear.I commute 70 miles a day, 90% interstate with an average speed of 70mph. I live in the tampa bay area which is flat and the worst that can happen is lots of rain and wind. The dry season is here and we won't get a whole lot of that for a while. The average temps are in the 70s now, low 90s is about as high as it gets on average.

I don't have TripleTred's but I would start with the vehicle recomended settings. Measure your tread depth every month or so. If it is wearing faster and evenly on both the outside and inside edges of the tread then you need more air. If it is wearing more in the middle then you need less air. Adjust your tire pressure according to your results. Just my opinion though.
