Plug & Play on a scanner not working

Never had problems before installing this hardware. The PC Plug and Play does all the work for me. However, I must have click something when plug and play popped up to close it. Now it won't work automatically.OK, so I can add it manually. But the PC is not able to read a connection to the scanner. I tried different ports, so I know it's not the USB cable or the sannner.The driver and software is already installed. Again, the PC just can "connect" with the scanner. When I click "test" from the scanner software, it just does not reconize the scanner as being connected.I installed and reinstalled, on-off-reboot, and still get the same result. Please help.

is it a brand new scanner or a used one?Have you ever seen the scanner work before?Are the software and drivers compatible with the version of WIndows you are using?What brand/model scanner?The scannerr I have shows up as a twain source, and I configured it a while ago, don't rememmber if P&P took care of it or if I had to jump through hoops

I had to reformat the HD to start over. P&P popped up. I clicked something when I first plug the hardware in and it's gone now. Now it won't come back if I plug it in again.- Umax scanner.TIA
