Hya! New Vibe owner =)

Post by moongdss »

Hi all! I'm Diana, living between Baltimore and Washington DC and I bought a 2006 Vibe this past August. I have to say, I've had my eye on this car for a year or two now, and am SO happy it lived up to my expectations! This is my very first BRAND NEW car and I love her!I've previously owned a pontiac ('86 Fiero) and I worked in parts sales for several years, so I know that the Pontiac name plates are reliable as well as nice on the eyes! When I was deciding between the Vibe and the Matrix, I went with the Vibe as it has a more SUV/sportwagon hybrid look that the Toyota (which looks all hatchback to me!) Not that there's anything wrong with that, but my preference was the sportwagon look.Only mods I'm planning so far are completing the roof rack and dropping in a better radio. I'm currently tracking down the crossbars on eBay (crosses fingers). Barring that I'm off to the junkyards. I hear rumour that the crossbars from the GMC Jimmy and Chevy Blazer will fit with minor mods I also have a double-decker JVC CD/cassette I yanked from my trade-in with the intention of popping in the Vibe. So after only two months, my Pandora has turned 4000 miles! Holy Moley she'll be ready for her first oil change soon!! I named her after a fictional pirate ship with blood red sails called the Pandora. She's the Salsa base Vibe with the power package and the 17" wheels. Ain't she a beaut?

Hello fellow MDer! Yeah, I have put all sorts of stuff inside her already, but there are some bookcases I've been meaning to buy. I'm pretty sure they'd fit inside, but putting on top would take out all the guesswork. Plus I've never had a car I could really put stuff on top of

Oh I've drooled over your Vibe pics! I LOVE the headlight mods! I saw the corner vinyls on grafxwerks, but it looks like you have something in the front corner of the headlights... mind if i ask what? It looks really awesome!

welcome aboard!a quick search might net you some cheaper cross bars. someone here had found that the bars off of a certain year blazer or jimmy fit the vibe just fine.

4000 miles in two months! Somebody must really like driving their Vibe. I bought mine in August and I just turned over 5000 miles. Change your oil now!!! I waited 'till 5000 miles for my first oil change (per ownwers manual) and it looked terrible. I think 5000 miles on regular oil is too long.Anyway, welcome to the family.

Welcome to GenVibe! I believe the crossbars are only rated to 100lbs +/-. Not much but how often does a person lift something over 100lbs over their head to put up there anyway.I would also get your first oil change as soon as possible, especially since you just broke in the engine.Congrats on Pandora!
