The chain's first location sat near Ford's soon-to-shutter Hapeville plant near Atlanta, and Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy credits the Ford plant for his initial success after opening in 1961. So, the Associated Press reports, Cathy is negotiating with Ford to buy the final Taurus after it runs down the Hapeville line this week. The 85-year-old restaurateur's staff says he has a commitment from Ford to get the last of the Tauruses, which will go out of production this week after 21 years and seven million copies sold. The car will be displayed at the company's headquarters.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Can't say I'll miss the Taurus, but I must admit, that's a pretty interesting way to go out... I'd believe it if they were helped along by Ford... Waaay back in the day, I had a crappy job at a Burger King right across from a Ford plant. At the end of every one of their shifts, we'd get our butts kicked! Those guys got hungry...
