Hi, I know it's not recommended, but I am getting the factory installed 17 in rims that pontiac offers. Is it at all possible (with any type of chain/cable) that I could put on over my 17 inch tire? or should I go smaller and invest in steel rims also?-Eric

The others are right, the steel rims and snow tires are your best option for traction anyway. But, there's one more side to it. Tire chains are not recommended on a tire that large with this car. It says that in the manual supplement that comes with the tires. I guess they're concerned about it ripping up the inside of the wheel wells.
Invest in a set of winter tires on steel rims. Just switch them at every year. Its a good investment, if you live in a snowy area.Do you have a moonroof? It might be problematic to have a moonroof with 17" rims.Source:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4
