Body kits and altezzas are great!!!!

Post by ColonelPanic »

So, you Vibers are always griping about the lack of body kits and altezza lights for your cars... But think about it this way...In reality, the lack of this crap is really protecting your cars! Just think, if this stuff was common, you'd be seeing disasters made of the Vibe like.......... drum roll please.........I'm really diggin' the "busted up and almost falling off" look, I must admit! And the one light busted out on the trunk lid... That's just style there!

Oh! I never thought about them taking it to the track... I think you're right on the money there! I just brushed up on my Laws of Aerodynamics book I have sitting on the shelf, sure enough flapping fiberglass on the left will significantly enhance stability of a vehicle at a high rate of speed.. Couple that with the spoiler that will provide ample downforce once the car hits, oh, say 500 MPH or so, and this thing will handle great!

I actually think the rear bumper would look really good if it weren't broken. And I don't mind the spoiler that much either. It's just a bit too high up.

so whats so funny about that car... it looks like mine... except my rear bumper didnt have "CURB FEELERS" *and i hit a puddle with my rear and it looked worse then that!!!But the tuning gods created fiberglass... and i fixed my rear bumper to look good again.. i would NEVER let my bumper look like that, let alone stay like that.

it looks good but there is no purpose for a rear spoiler on a fwd car.but there are ways to make the two work well in unison and complement the car.

This must mean that Autozone is a Tuner shop then. Just think, you could come out of there ready to destroy! Vinyl stickers, neons, plastic chrome air freshners, spinning hubcabs, 5" exhaust tips, wiper LEDs, a hot chain license plate frame, and last but not least a fire extinguisher in case all those previous mods becmoe too much for said tuner to handle...The word "tuner" has been distorted and wapred over the last few years. Seems like anyone with less than V8 and a loud exhaust thinks they're a "tuner". Would I consider myself a "tuner"? By no means...I don't "tune" anything. I like a nice clean, low, good sounding car. If I had a spoiler would I be a tuner? No.Thanks to amazing cinematic feats such as The Fast and The Furious, we now have a generation of car guys who think they "tune" when reality is, there's only a hand full of true tuners out there...and most of them don't have wings...or neons...or stereos.

ha ha! i love wikipedia! It has become fairly popular to modify or customize a sport compact, commonly referred to as tuning. This has given rise to the term "tuner" for the owners of modified sport compacts, and, by extension, their automobiles. There is a large market for bolt-on performance enhancing equipment that fits small cars of this type. This market also includes a lot of equipment that is cosmetic (something that changes the appearance of the vehicle). Many self-described "tuners" spend more money on spoilers, ground effects, neon lighting, poorly-designed exhausts, loud sound systems, large wheels with low-profile tires and other style/image products than they do on performance enhancing modifications, creating a car commonly named rice burner. In many cases, these modifications severely hinder the performance of the car either by increasing curb weight or counteracting original design decisions. For example, a large rear spoiler on a FWD car will reduce traction, and larger wheels require more force to move. This practice is looked down upon by car enthusiasts of all varieties, who often refer to such characters as rice boys. The rapid explosion of ineffective (and disruptive, in the case of buzzing exhausts and rattling subs) modifications has led to a backlash of sorts against all of those who modify their sport compacts. Much to the distress to those participating in the import scene, this has led to the term tuner becoming a pejorative in many circles. Many tuners pour thousands of dollars into engine tuning and performance tuning, and are offended when lumped into the same category as rice boys. Many tuners modify their sport compacts to outrun sports cars with double or in some cases, triple the displacement of their engines.
