Hello,I was wondering what you think about using Mobil 1 SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lubricant in our AWD Vibe's Transfer Case and Rear Axle? The Manual states to use SAE 80W-90 GL-5 Gear Lubricant. So would there be any problems with using the Mobil 1 SAE 75W-90,the bottle said "exceeds performance requirements of API Service GL-5".Thanks for your input!Dale
Heck of a question... I think you will be fine with the synthetic. I have done this in the past with other cars and had good success. eg. swapped to synthetic manual tranny fluid and found shifting when cold much improved.I have not checked into this though... being mostly Toyota I am not positive if there is an additive that the dealer installs when change these fluidsDouble check that and if the answer is no then you are good... if they use an additive then get it and change the fluid anyway.
