Mine was quite a bit less than that. I think I paid around $120 when I bought my Vibe. And that was with an additional $35 for the special plate I got. That was only a one time fee. My renewals should be in the neighborhood of $100. I am interested to know what everyone else is paying.

I bought my Vibe in January, and the registration on my existing plate would have expired in June. We're getting new plates this year, so I opted to go ahead and get one. I didn't really see any sense in transferring my old plate over, since I would have to go back to the license branch 6 months later to get the new plate anyway... Initailly the cost was $235, however since I still had some time left on the old plate, the BMV cut me a check for around $40, they couldn't give me a credit on the spot. So $195 in reality, and the registration is current until June of 2004 for a standard issue plate. I really wanted a special intrest plate, but not for $40 more on top of the $235 I already had to pay... Ouch!

I pay $38.00 yearly for my license plate renewals... they plan on raising all our vehicle registrations (and driver's license) by $10-20 a piece this year I hear. Not bad compared to many places it seems...
