Door fuse keeps blowing

Post by spiteNmalice »

I seem to have a problem with my 25amp door fuse, I had to replace a blown fuse and when I use the autolock it blew again. Has anyone had this problem before, or does anyone know how to troubleshoot this? I'm not sure what to check fist as this started happening out of the blue, I have not changed anything in the car or with the electrical. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did it rain at any time close to when this started happening?
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

does it only blow the fuse with the auto lock or/and when you use the door lock on the door panel?if its both I'd say your power lock acuator is bad or the wire going to it is shorted.if its only blows with the autolock I'd say the short is in the autolock relay part of the system.

this is happening with my wife's car (not a vibe) and i'm not sure how to approach it either. When she presses the unlock on her FOB it's like the vibe in that it unlocks the driver's door ...a second push unlocks the rest. the fuse seems to always blow after the second push so i'm thinking it's one of the other 3 passenger doors.can i just systematically unconnect the power to each of the locks one by one until the fuse stops blowing?easier approach?thanks!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

Update to my problem, I bought three more fuses today and did some testing. Seems if I lock all the doors with the button on the drivers door, passenger door, and the FOB the fuse will not blow. However if I try to unlock all the doors with any of those buttons the fuse will blow. This is an odd problem, thanks everyone for your suggestions. Think I'm going to take it into the dealership, I will post the problem and hopefully this might help someone else some day.
