Need your input

Post by Que »

Hello, I'm new. My name is Ramon, love the website and the amount of info availble and like many of you I can't leave any vehicle I own in stock form. I have a couple of questions. I have a '03 Vibe GT 6spd w/ the following engine mods:AEM short ram intake,DC sports ceramic coated headers, magnaflow high-flow catalytic converter, Greddy 2.5 inch axle-back exhaust and midpipe. I will be buying a set of Stage 2 Piper cams soon and don't know if the Camcom would be sufficient enought for tuning. I know Unichip is another alternative but I don't want to spend the amount of money they are asking for it. My engine mods will end with the addition of the cams and "maybe" upgrading the throttle body. So I just want to know if Camcom will do the trick. Thanx in advance,Ramon

Welcome to GenVibe! You will need a piggyback that can adjust the ignition timing like Unichip or E-manage. Camcon will only adjust the A/F ratio and the intake cam timing. With the stage 2 Piper cams you should also get and upgraded valve spring and retainer set as well. Good Luck, Let us know how they work out for you.

oh cams! yea with cams upgrading your valves, valve springs and retainers can be easy while your at it. MWR (monkey wrench racing has all the parts). im with BC, the camcon cannot tune for lift on the 2zz so its not really worth it. get the unichip or emanage. nice mods so far

Thanx for the warm welcome.About the Valve Springs:On ragnorakracing.com the race cams are the only ones that require the springs not the street version. On MWR they only have springs and retainer sets for the 1ZZ engine. Maybe with the street (ragnorakracing) and stage 2 (MWR) cams there isn't a concern as far as valve floating goes. I think I'll call them tomorrow to verify the info posted on the websites. This might be helpful to anyone else who might be thinking about purchasing these cams.Well with all that in mind. What do you guys think whp will with my current mods, Unichip, throttle body (7whp / per ragnorakracing) and Stage 2 cams (10whp per MWR) will be?Thanx in advance
