Injen Intake

Ive got an Injen CAI on my vibe and i like it, Besides the start up sucking sound it has deffiently added a new level of preformance. But ive had it on for about 1 1/2 years now and i think its time to replace the filter. I called the dip**** at injen and he chouldent tell me exactly what replacement filter i needed. From what i gathered i may need 2.75" Injen Air Filter but the guy at injen was like they may have changed them and blah blah blah. So do any of your know for positive that the pipe od is 2.75"... Some one has to know , Help a brother out lol

Performance Tuning (www.ptuning.com) has the replacement filter as 2.75" diameter (PN PTX-1013).

why replace it? just get a recharge kit from k & n and wash it and reoil it.

reoil it ? I dont think mine came oilded it wasent slimey or greasy when i put it on. Can it be oiled and whats the process entail ?

go to you local autoparts store... look for k&n recharge kit for filters.You just clean your filter with the oil/cleaner inside the kit.just DONT over-oil or youll prolly get a CEL

yup its called oil'ing but its just like re-lubricating it. once "oiled" let it sit over night to dry a little.

I vote for replacing it with an AEM Dryflow. Why? No oil to mess up your MAF sensor with. Therefore it is much easier and less messy to clean and maintain. Also, AEM claims they filter down to one micron of dust. K&N? They don't even list it, which makes me wonder how effective they really are if they won't list that information. I'd rather go with the filter that I know works... everything else in my car is synthetic, why not the filter too . On another note, I wonder how long it will be before K&N has a non-oil filter of their own...

there was a downside to the dryflow's but since im running on like .001 hours of sleep i cant remember.

One downside may be that since they filter better they *may* not flow quite as well. I'll take better filtering over that miniscule flow difference...

yup i just found the thread on newcelica bout it. their flow rate wasnt as high but they filters a little more particles than a nondryflow. someone else said in humid or rainy weather they soak up the water in their fibers (not up the intake) so they stay wet longer. i dont have personal experience with a dryflow but im willing to look into them as a purchase for my next filter.
