Im in desperate need of new tires for my vibe, Ive got nearly 70g on my orginal Goodyears and now they are getting to the point where thier unsafe, They plow all over the place and theres a ton of road noise so im looking to replace them.I go to http://www.discounttiredirect.com only because i have a cupon i picked up at the Wall Nj Formula D for money off tires. i put in my car make modle and year Pontiac Vibe 03 and they list Factory size 205/55 R-16And they also list as Plus Zero size 215/55 R16 and 225/50 R16 What does the Zero Plus size mean and will they fit on my rims ( Factory 16's) The tires im looking at are Kumho Ecsta SPT in 225/50 R16 Will they fit ok or will they rub or will somthing else i dont want to have happen happen
Welcome to GenVibe! You probably should stick to the 205/55 size. 215's will fit on your original rims, but 225's won't.I replaced my original Continentals with Kuhmo Ecsta ASX tires and liked the handling. Was disappointed with the wear though (only 34K on them). I'm rolling on Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds now.
stick with the 205/55R16 size. If you change to 215 or 225 (225 will fit on the Vibe) keep in mind you will need to change the sidewall size to maintain overall diametre. I run 17" rims for summer and 16" rims for winter. 205/55R16 for winter and 215/45R17 for summer. I should have gone with the 225/45R17 for summer. Its a little wider but fits. Its also the closest match to the stock diametre size.

Im going with a set of Fuzion HRi tires this weekend (size 225/50/16) on my stock rims. If you use this tire size calculator, http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html, you will find that the size Im going with is almost exactly the same, except for the width, as the stock tires. Also go to http://www.tirerack.com. You can read reviews on many tires, maybe even some that you like. Good luck!

Im running 225/50/16 on the stock Vibe rims. The spec chart at TireRack says the 225 width is fine on the stock rim. 225/50/16 are virtually identical in diameter compared to the OE 205/55/16. Going to larger diameter than OE places more load on the engine and drive train. The Vibe is already borderline on power, so no need to load it more with larger diameter tires.Plus Zero simply means - not changing your OE rim diameter which is 16". Plus One is a 17" rim, Plus Two is a 18" rim, etc.
