Stereo hiss

Post by XRTIM »

I was just wondering if I can eliminate the hiss that I hear when my stereo is on. I expect something with the radio ( reception), but not cd or aux(nothing hooked up) modes. I ran the rca patch cables down the middle, power on the left, speakers on the right. I am running components in front, coaxials in back, and one sub woofer. There is a six channel amp (set up for five channels) running the whole show. The hiss is not really loud just annoying. Is this to be expected when your are using an amplifier. Thanks for your time.

Is it a constant hiss, or do you kind of hear the engine in it if its turned down?Check the power and ground make sure they are secure from the front to the back and that the ground is on a metal surface that has the paint removed.

I have the amp grounded to the crossmember in back. Its a bad place. Will ground the amp under rear seat somewhere. Amp is located in black sparetire tray. Thanks for all the input.
