Where do you people buy parts for your Vibe?

Post by wyldejackyl »

Hey all, I'm a little new to the Vibe world. My wife has had hers new since 12/02, but now that it's got about 80k miles on it, some maintenance issues have cropped up, and I'm not sure where to get the best parts at the best prices. So far I've found drivewire.com and that's about it. We might be in the market for new suspension parts (wheel hop on front wheels when it's wet out), as well as wheel bearings for the front (the hum's starting, and the tires are relatively new). The biggest job so far I have yet to undertake is the valve lashing on the 1ZZFE motor. From all the instructions I've seen, it appears the lifters are shimless and require complete replacement. I can only imagine what that would cost from the $tealer..any better place to buy them?

greetings from a fellow chicagoancongratulations. you may be the first on the site to do the valve lashing. i think if you do a search on it, you'll be able to find a little info, but not much, since none of us have had it done yet.good luck

GTFO, really? How many miles do you have on yours? I was supposed to check them at 50k but didn't have the time to do it. I figure it's all or nothing; I'll buy a mike and everything so I get it right. Hell, I should probably take pictures then, huh? It might propel me into early GenVibe stardom! lol

Well, you shouldn't need new coils but if you do I have some in the garage lol...I found this website once with like every part imaginable, even body parts for my other car (1991 Taurus Wagon). I've never found parts for that thing, not even on ebay. I found it on google so search on google. If I find it again I will post it on here for you to check out.Ok never mind, I found the site but they don't have anything for the Vibe besides body parts and wing door conversion kits....VERY usefull IMO.

it's been determined that the lashing is BS and unecessary unless you have a problem which causes it to be needed.

yupi've got around 74k miles on my 04. i posted a few months ago about having that tapping noise, but once the engine's warmed up, its gone. during the summer months, its fine. i started noticing it around last fall.parts-wise, definitely wait to hear from merz, or bluecrush, jason...hell you're in the right spot if you're looking for parts. just wait for everyone to find this post

Also, I don't think the coils are worn. On my VW I had a few years back, it was the strut insert that got old and worn. I just put on a spring compressor, saved the springs, and got new inserts. That drivewire.com site appears to carry them but they are over $100/each. There's gotta be a source for good OEM stuff that's not at ripoff prices, or better aftermarket stuff. I hope those dudes chime in!
