hey guys, first of all i am new to this forum. i just bought an 03 vibe last week. i love it, but it has one problem, the AC Drips Inside the car, instead of outside. the dealer said they would take care of it, but i wondered if i could do it myself. i removed the drain, and made sure it was clear of any debris, and it was. so does anyone else know what might be causing this? i cannot use my AC, but if i do, it drips into the car on the passenger side, causing it to get all wet. any help would be nicethanks again!
There's a thread here somewhere about the drain hose falling off and causing that problem, but you said you checked that, so I don't know.you should try to do is make it to the grand mega meet in Fenton MI this Saturday.

The GM service manuals state this... It is under ODOR but see my hightlighted text...Odor DiagnosisStep Action Yes No 1 Sit inside the vehicle. Close all of the doors and windows. Start the engine. Allow the engine idle at normal operating temperature. Select the maximum blower speed. Select the panel air outlet mode. Select the coldest temperature setting. Cycle through all of the blower speeds, modes and temperatures to define what type of odor is present. - Musty smell - Coolant smell - Oil smell Does the odor have a musty smell? Go to Step 2 Go to Step 8 2 Inspect the HVAC filter for debris. Is the HVAC filter clean of debris? Go to Step 3 Go to Step 4 3 Inspect the passenger compartment filter for odor. If the filter has an odor, replace the filter. Did you replace the filter? Go to Step 16 Go to Step 5 4 Remove any debris from the filter. Is the action complete? Go to Step 16 -- 5 Inspect for wet carpeting. Is the carpet wet? Go to Step 6 Go to Step 15 6 Inspect for the following conditions: • Water leaks around the windshield • Blockage of the HVAC module drain • Leaks around the door seals • Blockage of the plenum drain Is a leak present? Go to Step 7 Go to Step 15 7 Repair the leak as necessary. Is the repair complete? Go to Step 16 Go to Step 8

Yep I believe you it is AC and not water leak...Got me on the plenum... It might be related to the Evaporator Core since that is inside the car and sweats when the AC is on, thus drains to the hose...I looked in the service manuals and did not find that so it must be related to another part (my best guess).Or something may be cracked or a seal is bad letting the water in instead of draining it properly.
well, after driving it for lunch it did not drip (i had ac on full). i was driving for about 20-30 mins and the ac was on the whole time...so no leak as of now...i am not going to say that it is solved yet, i have to do some more driving to figure out whether or not it is fixed...if anyone has any more ideas, please let me know....thanks to all that have helped
In just the last 3 days I'm seeing this ac drip problem in my Vibe. I checked the drainage hose and it is hooked up fine. If I have the a/c on I hear a hissing sound for about 5 seconds. This happens about once every 5 minutes. I believe this is when the water is getting sprayed on the front passenger side. Today I noticed that I'm getting water on the front drivers side also, though not as much. Any ideas ? It started on Sat when my wife had her bag shoved up underneath the dash on the passenger side. It may be just a coincidence though, because I don't see anything wrong under there.Bec
for those checking that the hose is securly atached you may also want to check that its not blocked or plugged up anywhere either. this too could cause the dripping and wet interiors.

good call, MikeI tried again to get that drainage tube off but that little (removed) is on there pretty snug ! (though I suppose that's better than having it slip off on its own like other people have had a problem with) Anyway, I stuck a screwdriver up the tube and got a few drops of water. I tried again, this time turning the screwdriver a little and WHOOSH!!! water started pouring out ! Good thing I had thought to bring a container with me so I could catch the water. I estimate there was almost a quart of water that came out of there !!I never did see any kind of debris so I'm not really sure what was causing the clog but I ran the A/C while driving today (over an hour of driving) and so far there's no water leaking out on my carpet. Hopefully it's fixed now and not just filling up the chamber again. (nice cynical attitude, eh ?) Bec

the plenum drain:under the cowl where your windsheild wiper motor is, is the plenum it goes from one side of the car to another as the top of the firewall (flat metal piece) it covers the fresh air vent for the A/C and on the end by the fenders is a hole where the water drains out from rain water running down the windsheild on to the cowl.
