anyone installed rear view cameras??

Post by prtlnd03gt »

just picked up a double din dvd player that has a couple inputs for rear cameras, noticed you can pick them up on ebay for about 30 bucks. I was just wondering if anyone has installed these?? i am guessing there would be some drilling to mount them in bumper, but the rest should be simple wiring right??

Yes, it should be simple. The $30 cameras use CMOS sensors like most cheapo webcams and won't give you that good an image, also their claims of 'wide view' are almost usually total crap. So are the ones that claim they can 'see at night'.If you're looking for quality, you need one with a CCD that'll probably run closer to $170. You can try one of the $30 ones, but don't be upset when it doesn't look as good as you hope.

It should be fine for that, but like I said, the 'night vision' won't be so great, and it may not be wide enough to really see around, especially if you put it dead center in the bumper.
