Fan speed and idle

Post by shane_c »

Is this normal? When I have my A/C on my idle is quite high, usually around 1600. If I turn my A/C off it goes down to 800. The same happens when I use the fan without A/C. Only difference is the idle stays around 1200 and then goes to 800 when I turn it off.

While i'm not exactly sure of the numbers it is normal that A/C use will cause the Rpms to be higher at idle.It takes more power to turn the compressor motor than when its off.

Once mine is fully warmed up, it idles at ~900 with the A/C on and ~700 with it off.
