Hello everyone! I'm a brand new Vibe owner and I'm still getting used to the culture shock of a smaller car after driving a pickup truck for the last 5+ years. Any-who... I was trying to get feed back from everone as to the BEST of the Aux Input products. I have read oll of the threads and just wanted to post this one separately. I have a Sirius Starmate and the FM transmitter doesn't work like it did in my truck on account of the antenna now being in the back of the car. Also, any advice on installing said input would be great. I don't have a service/repair manual yet and a step-by-step process of removing the stereo would be very helpful. Thanks all... see you out there!Beav
Stereo is easy to remove. Pull benzel from below. Show pop off fairly easy. Just held in with push clips. You'll want to detach some cables from the benzel to get it out of the way. Simple clips. Then you have 4 bolts. I believe they are 10mm. That's it your done.
Welcome to the forum! I also went from a pickup to a Vibe, and I am also a Starmate owner. I'm also looking for an aux converter, as I have tired the SIR-GM1 and USA-Spec DFGM aux input, both with no luck. I had an aux input in my truck, and like you I don't find the FM modulator to work well.I'm going to do some more experimenting, and I'll post what I find.By the way, I had some adjusting when I went from my truck to my Vibe. I was used to cars behind me stopping 7 feet or so from my rear window, and I kind of freaked out when cars behind me stopped just a few feet from the rear window of the Vibe! I know it sounds stupid, but after driving trucks for over 10 years I kept forgetting that there wasn't a pickup bed behind me...

welcome to the boards - My aux-2-car has done very well with my single cd head unit. I was impressed how easy it was to install.I get a tad bit of hiss, but that could easily be caused by the 8' unshielded audio cable I have connected to it. And it's only noticable when the engine is off and everything else is dead silent.
I had an AUX2CAR and it sounded fine. Easy to install too.The first part of the following thread is a step-by step on removing the trim around the radio. Then there are just 4 hex screws at each corner of the radio holding it in.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=5940

I just received - and installed - a GM12-AUXV2 that I purchased from Crutchfield:http://www.crutchfield.com/S-f...12AX2Did a "rough" install this evening, and IT WORKS!!! No more FM modulator for my Sirius receiver...

Follow-up to the previous post on this topic. If you use Crutchfield's "What Fits My Car?" feature, you will notice that their website states that the PIE GM12-AUXV2 does not work with the Vibe...NOT TRUE! I checked out PIE's website, and they list the Vibe among the models that this adapter works with. In all fairness to Crutchfield, the packaging on the unit I received does not list the Vibe; however, Crutchfield's 30-day money-back guarantee allows you to try it with no risk. That being said, in its current mode it accesses the aux input by pressing the BAND button (not the CD/AUX) button. I Velcroed the unit to the top of my head unit (near the back, to clear the hazard and defroster switches, and the passenger airbag indicator), bent the spades on the supplied power leads and jammed them behind the B1 (hot) and A12 (ground) positions on the 24-pin connector to the head unit, then plugged the 12-pin connector into the supplied harness and the new 12-pin connector into the radio. For my Starmate, I mounted it by removing the "dummy" button below the A/C recirc button and bolting a mount through the hole. I then notched the trim surrounding the radio at the bottom (near the climate control dials) to allow me to slip the three wires (power, antenna and aux out) for the Starmate. I ran the power cord behind the center stack to a new 12v outlet that I hid under the cupholders, and tapped from the harness meant for the outlet that used to be installed in the bottom of the center console (I added yet another outlet to that position at the same time). It was a few hours of tedious work, but staying organized and focused on one step at a time made a big difference. Not only do I now have cleaner sound from my Sirius receiver, I also now have a very clean look to the interior, and the receiver is literally at my fingertips.I'll try to get some photos, and post them so that all can see.
