Bumping

Are there any rules listed about bumping (reactivating a thread continuously)? I could not find anything by searching.

Don't like me bumping my sales, huh? I usually only bump my sales once a day unless I have something new to add or there are replies. That is well within reason.

If you want to bump one of your sales threads, and the last post in that thread is already one of your bumps, you can edit -> delete that last post and then re-bump it, that way it will only appear that you just bumped it, instead of creating a record of bumping it every day. This would also help you escape being accused of post whoringAlso, if you have a lot of separate threads for your items for sale, then you could create a single "lots of cool vibe parts for sale" index thread with links to the individual for sale threads, and then just bump the index thread.You could also redo your signature to list the items for sale with a link to the index thread, to get more visibility to the for sale threads.I don't pay attention to your bumpy for sale threads, you aren't selling any Vibe parts that I want, no matter how many times you bump them.

I felt the other sales had enough information specific to that item that it warranted its own thread. Normally, I have grouped my sales together in the past though. However, I don't think it was the bumping that was bothering you, but the quantity of for sale threads by me. If there was only one for sale thread that was being bumped everyday, I don't think it would have been a problem.

i don't see anything wrong with "bumping" a thread, provided it's not a daily activity. maybe every other day or so, but why should it matter?? it's not like anyone is overly bumping and it does help generate interest in the For Sale and even the VOTM/MOTM threads.

I have been chastised for using the patented "stealth bump"© technique, so it is to be avoided. This prohibited "stealth bump"© technique is performed by replying to a thread, and then immediately deleting the reply. This will bump the thread as desired and leave no indication as to why/how the thread was bumped, but will cause a hole in the Date column in the Active topics list, which apparently confuses some. It used to be more anonymous, but now at least you can see who did it by looking in the individual forum index list.So, if you decide to bump a thread, it's better to at least be clear about it.Another similarly confusing technique is the "attack of the old thread bump", which involves finding some old long forgotten thread and replying to it as if it was current, and then watching to see how long it takes someone to notice that the thread has been resurrected from ages past.
