Well today I was figuring out how I wanted to tackle this project, and finally figured out how I was going to do it and after a couple of trips to the RadioShack and geting it all mocked up. My cordless drill is dead. Both spare batteires also dead. So now I have to wait around 16 hours while the stupid battery charges. The glove box will be wired with two seperate blue leds. They will only come on when the key is in the on postsion and the glove box is opened. I tapped the switched power line which was tapped from the 12 volt socket in the dash also running power to my FM Modulator. Each tap is fused. I'll get some pics as soon as i can too both durring and after. The pics may not come till late next week as I must go out of town for a funeral for my Grandmother who just passed away.

I hate to hear about your loss. Been there, four times now. My thoughts are with you and the family. The project sounds great though, can't wait to see the results! Lighted glove boxes are things we often take for granted or at least that's been my experience. The new car has one, it's amazing how nice of a feature something so simple can be.

Project update:Well, i have it completly installed now! However i need to make a small modification to it. The switch does not get pressed when the door is shut. So they only turn off when the key is removed from the ignition. Simple fix just need to find the right sized extender to reach the button. Once again I'll have full write up and pics sometime late next week.
Cool. Until you get the modifications done, I don't think you'll have to worry too much about the LED's being on all the time, you won't see them and they won't get hot or burn out.

ok here we go.First I removed the glovebox to find a place to mount the lights. I found 2 places. the first one is top and left of center. the second is on the right side of the box. I already had a power lead run from the 12 volt socket in the dash to this area and i re-tapped that line and added a additional in-line fuse. Then I ran that to one side of the small N.C. momentary switch. then I ran the power lead from each light to a spade wire connector to connect to the other side of the switch. with the ground wire from the lights i ran to the screw to the left under the cabin filter asymbely.I had to add rubber feet to the inside edge of the box to actually make contact to the button when the box closes.
Sweet! Dang, Bill! That looks great! You'll have to get a night shot as well. I wish I was as handy with electronics as you guys are. I'm lucky I can change a headlight bulb, LOL!
