How do I install a 4 prong trailer light wire ?

I want to tow a small light weight trailer behind my Vibe. BUT.... The dealer wants a whopping $175 to install the set-up. Steep for something I think I could do with some electrical tape and a razor blade.Can anyone help me ? I doubt this could be very hard. I see an open plug in the rear passenger side tail light compartment. Do I buy some sort of attachment and just plug it in ? Or am I getting in over my head?Any help would be greatly appreciated.It is a 2005, vibe.Thanks,Bobby

If you want to go the cheap route, just tap into the wires from the turn and brake lamp socket wires. The issues you may have is the turn signal flasher may not be able to keep up with now 6 blinkers and flash really fast, thus you may have to upgrade it to a heavy duty flasher. You will probably have to tap both sockets splicing them into one, the one four prong connector. The four prong wire connector would be for ground, brake/turn and tail lamp wires. I did mine just cutting and splicing into the wires already there, no problem with the signals or lights on the trailer. and all you need is about $20 in parts (that is inluding the 4 prong connector) which is the most expesive part of all this. and a couple of 2cent wire connectors. no worries it is easy!
