I just finished installing the magnaflow cat-back exhaust and I'm loving it. It took about 2 hours to do. The sawing of the OEM pipe was a pain, but everything else was pretty simple. However, after doing a bit of a test drive, when I pulled up to a light and waited for a bit, it smelled like something was burning almost. It was pretty strong and so I pulled over and sure enough, the smell was coming out my exhaust. Does anyone know about this? Does it just take some time for the new product to break in or something?
not sure what that would be... check the clamp agian.. i had a mishap with mine so i had a piece welded on then had the clamp for the exhaust put on by the muffler shop.hope it isnt anything big. They sould sweet huh? dunno what a GT sounds like with exhaust

Was there any Stickers on the Muffler? It could be the glue burning off. I remember when I put the new turbo on my Supra, I replaced the Exhaust gasket for the Turbo manifold. My GOD did it stink after the engine warmed up - only lasted for about 30 minutes or so.
yeah, I will re-inspect the clamps soon. I just thought I got them prefect, but maybe not.........yeah dude, it sounds amazing that sticker thing would make sense, but I don't think there were any stickers on it. If the smell wears off over time, then maybe that was the problem. I'll give it some more time.
Any stickers/paper will burn off early on. Also, I believe they use some sort of lubricant during the fabrication process that smells bad when it burns off the inside of the pipes. Should all go away soon.

It's the protective oil burning off. My magnaflow burned it off after a couple days. The thin layer of oil prevents rust while the exhaust is boxed up in a warehouse.

But then a friend of mine suggested that idea to me today, and now you confirmed it for me. Mavrik, I'm sure mine sounds a whole lot better than yours does. lol jk. I love it too.

I think I made someone jump out of their socks who was standing on the sidewalk next to me when I hit lift It's sooo nice. Magnaflow was definately the right way to go I'm starting to feel the extra power now too, and the chrome tip looks ten times better than the OEM tip.

(removed). well, driving BOTH vehicles with unichips.... mini-lift has NOTHING on LIFT itself. no matter how much you want it to..... it's not the same thing.
Quote, originally posted by kcorona »So does a magnaflow give noticeable, (removed) dyno gains to a base, or just sound pretty?oh man, I can feel a huge difference. Particularly in my low-end torque it seems and then right when I hit lift also. I have accidentally peeled out at like three of four stop lights now.
Hitting mini-lift at 4k and REAL lift between 6k and 8.5k probably sounds a bit different. The Magnaflow and Injen combo are well worth the $$ on the GT.
