Steering wheel scratch.

Post by RaveVibe »

So I have this scratch in my leather steering wheel under the round pontiac symbol thing in the middle. I was wondering if some black shoe polish would work at covering it up.

Black might stand out too much. I would try and get some charcoal or dark grey color. Good Luck! Take before and after pics and post them up.

Yea I was thinking a lighter color would be better, but either way I plan on testing it out on the back part of the leather you cant see just in case, and Ill try to get some decent picks up of my new mini project.

Do you have any Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam? It's a clear wax type substance that when rubbed in, virtually make scratches in my leather shoes disappear. I think it might work with the steering wheel. I have to see the scratch to know for sure. I have some Dr. Martens that have the smooth brown finish leather, and I practically gouged one of them this morning on a closet fixture. Half a minute with the wax and you can't tell it ever happened. When it dries, you can't feel a wax like build up. And it isn't overly shiney.

Wow thats awesome, because it seems like the waxy substance would actually cover the scratch a lot better, so it works with any color of leather im assuming since its clear?

You can get repair kits for that also.
