Post by abronco1 »

I am just about a week away from getting my Neptune 5-speed manual, with plastic cladding Vibe. how many people have the plastic cladding, and what things do you like about it? Do you wish you had the monotone appearance package?-Eric

I have the plastic on mine. I don't mind it at all. When it rains or gets muddy, I don't have to worry about the paint getting scratched for one. I don't wish I had the monotone at all. Of course, the cladding matches my color pretty well so that may have a lot to do with it.

I have the monotone plastic. I like the way it makes the car flow together. But I also like the two tone. It was just my personal choice to order my GT in monotone.

Thanks for the replies so far....at first i wanted the monotone package myself, but when I was told that the dealer couldn't get the monotone with the options I wanted (i.e. Power Package, ABS, and 5-speed manual) being the top three...I had to settle for it. But I do believe that the plastic cladding with be more scratch resistant, and overall a little more durable. Getting the Neptune color it won't "blend" in as well, but I still like the way it looks! I just can't wait to get my VIBE!! Hopefully this Friday!!!

Millster, I noticed on your website that your Vibe has teh 17 in Rims that Ponitac offers...what are your feelings on those rims? I am also getting those rims with my vibe. Have you needed to purchase winter tires? And if so, what kind would you recommend for a person like me on a (very) limited Budget. I really like the Bridgestone Blizzaks, but they're a little pricey for me....Thanks again!-Eric

Yeah, I did that too. I wanted to get Neptune/Monotone, but they wanted this one off the lot so they made me a deal I couldn't refuse. I'm perfectly happy with it too. The cladding really doesn't look bad with the Neptune blue. I really like it that way. Good luck on getting it. I hope they are able to get it to you soon. quote:Millster, I noticed on your website that your Vibe has teh 17 in Rims that Ponitac offers...what are your feelings on those rims? Like I said above, I probably wouldn't have ordered them, but they were on the car and I couldn't pass up the deal. Now that I have them though, I really like them. There are two parts to the winter tire question. Yes I needed to, but no I didn't. I lost my job just before winter hit, so I didn't get the chance to buy any. It would be a very prudent thing to do, and now moving to Montana I have no choice. I really like the Blizzaks, but I understand what you mean, they are a bit pricey. I hope you are considering buying steel 16 or 15 inch wheels and putting the snows on them. It's much more cost effective that way. I was looking at the Dunlop Winter Sport myself, I think pricewise they were a little lower. I'm not really certain what I'll wind up with, but I'll keep you posted when I make that choice later on.

Ah, yes, another new member who should be formally introduced to the search feature on this site. A poll and full discussion on this very topic has already taken place. Use the search feature at the top right corner of the screen to find anything you are looking for. If it isn't there already, we are all happy to point you in the right direction and discuss things further. Not trying to be rude or sound mean in any way here, just trying to avoid being redundant. As for me, I bought my Neptune Vibe GT with the monotone option. I would not want this car in this color any other way. That is just my personal preference. I think the plastic cladding is a nice touch on the AWD models, as it gives it a more rugged/SUV appearance. I tend more toward the sporty side myself, so I prefer the monotone look.

Thanks for the reply Millster, yah I've thought about buying cheaper smaller wheels such as 15 or 16 inch steel wheels. I figure that Spring is approaching so I have a good few months before I need the winter tires (obviously) but thanks for the reply I'll keep your comments and suggestions in mind!-Eric
