Rear Licence plate light?

Post by the1stacekiller »

Yes after 70,000 kms I have had to replace ONE thing on the Vibe!! The rear licence plate bulb!! though when I noticed it off, and removed it .. there was no listing for it in the manual, and at CT! I had to visually match it to a bulb that looked exactly the same.. I tried the Matrix manual also not listed.. I ended up matching it visually to a lamp that was listed for Corollas...Does anyone know the exact stock # / replacement # for this little bulb??

Here in Columbus, OH a policeman with nothing better to do gave my son a ticket for a burned out license plate light. Saddam had his way of torturing his country's citizens, and the US/State/City governments have theirs.

Yeah the police here are too busy with more important things to do.. but I replaced it as soon as I noticed it so I wasn't going to get hassled..

It should be a 168. A 194 is a similar wedge base bulb, you can interchange the two but the 168 is brighter I do believe.

Okay I bought a 194 because it looked more similar to the stock bulb.. plus it said in the bulb manual that a 194 fits many corollas so I got that.. maybe sticky this post for future bulb questions ?

My 2003 has 5W5 bulbs. They are brighter then 194 and 168. I know this because I went to upgrade both to 5W5 thinking they were 194's and I noticed they already were 5W5.I upgraded all my 194 on my Vette inside and out to 5W5 bulbs. All there 5W5, 194 & 168 look the same but are different wattages. 5W5 is a European bulb, my Compass uses it too for license plate bulbs. At any rate, any will work.
