Just bought a new 2006 Platinum Vibe automatic late August. The great looks, functionality, comfort and 30mpg is awesome! I'm hoping the mpg gets better after a few thousand miles. Any performance mods for better gas milage is appreciated.Looking forward to hearing from you...
Hey nice ride! (I esp. like the color )Welcome to GV! As for mileage, the most impact will be from keeping tires at proper pressure, and how it gets driven.I've got a K&N filter, but the jury is still out on whether it's really helping mileage or not.

Welcome to GenVibe!Lots of info on gas mileage here, but most common tips are: keep revs below 3000 rpm; check tire pressure weekly; fill up in the mornings; replace regular filter with a K&N or short ram (better) or cold air intake (best); use synthetic oil (ex Mobil One 5W-30).
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and helpful tips. A couple more questions... 1. Are there any options to raise the center arm rest height for more comfort?2. Are there any options to get a 12v outlet in the center arm rest of my 2006 Vibe to recharge my cell phone?
To answer your question #1 you can order the toyota matrix console lid from http://www.Toyotapart.com it is a taller lid. The info is as follows:DOOR SUB-ASSY, CONSO P/N: 58905-02210-B1I just ordered mine and it should be arriving next week.It was $71.46 + shipping
welcome. search is your friend. there are several threads about adding the 12v power access to the center console. came in the 03/04 models but no more in 05+. as for better gas mileage that also has performance? aside from just a drop in filter, not too much. a short ram or cold air intake adds a little better fuel economy ONLY if you can lay off the gas! not too many people can do that once that goes in. keep your RPMs low and below 3000 and you should definitely get the best mpg out there.. also, steady speeds are good too, city driving vs hwy driving is always lower.
