Thanks, all, for the warm welcome and compliments on "my other car."Today is one of those days when the mind wanders at work. Anxious to pick up the new Vibe.Question for all: Just what is the nature of the Pontiac-Toyota lineage of the Vibe? Is it that the Vibe and Matrix are built at the same factory? Does it goes deeper than that (i.e., common design, same platform/chassis, etc?)? I'm embarrassed to admit that I had already decided to buy before I knew of the hybrid nature of the Vibe. Any background (or reference to a good URL) would be appreciated.

Welcome to GenVibe!Aw, the Firehawk is gettin' a younger sibling! Lava Red, no less! You seriously should get the RK sport hood for the Vibe, then you'd have two ram air Pontiacs:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=24542As for background info on the Vibe, do a Search for "NUMMI" here and you'll find out a lot about the manufacture of the Vibe. Note that, while the platform is the Toyota Corolla, the design was all Pontiac. Toyota redid their body and changed some electronics.
Went to pick up the 2006 Salsa 5-speed Vibe early on Saturday. Dealer actually didn't have the car available; needed to be fetched from another dealer in another state, and my dealer couldn't negotiate a trade with that dealership. So I left at 10 am that morning "In Search Of..."At another dealership, found one that met all me needs/druthers. Neptune blue, AT, Sun and Sound package, Preferred package, all power. Got a better trade for my Monte Carlo, and with $1000 back from the factory, another $1000 back for being a "non-GM brand conquest customer" (my wife has a Toyota Camry), and with $1000 back from my GM card earnings, wound up paying just $9K (with trade), including all dealer/state fees, freight, and taxes. Was driving it home by 3 PM that day.Love it so far. I can now understand the compulsion to tweak/trick out a Vibe. I won't be doing it, but I understand it.............
