Tint removal (not mine) questions/tips

My mom's car (95 accord coupe) has a tint problem. I don't know how or what or why but the tint in her back window is gone (been that way for a while) except for the very bottom inch or so. She has tried to take some of it off but it's hard for her to get up in there.I think she plans on getting it re-tinted sometime or another but it looks like crap now. I'm gonna try and get the rest out and I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for me like how to make it easier to come off and such.Thanks in advance

i've never done it myself, but i've heard to scrape it off with a razor blade. i know i've seen troopers make someone they've pulled over do just that on the side of the road.

I used some glass cleaner with ammonia in it when I was taking the crap off my Vibe's rear quarter window. Scraped it off with a razor blade scraper thingy, scrubbed the glass down with a green scouring pad. Took forever!Here is a removal howto.

Cool, glad that helped. Just be reeeeally careful with that rear defrost grid. I wish I would have found that howto earlier when I was working on that one tiny window, may have made it a bit easier.

I've got my mom's car this week, and yesterday was pretty humid (thank you south arkansas climate ) anyway, the back window was fogged pretty good and I turned the defroster on, low-and-behold only two of those lines worked She said she removed the majority of the tint with a razorblade. Probly not very carefully, either I guess the only way to get those working again would be to replace the window, huh?

There are a few ways to repair it, depending on how badly it got damaged. Just do a search on google for defroster repair. Look for something similar to the damage on her back window.

When removing tint, the most challenging part is the "sticky" stuff. With patience, you can get lucky and get 90% of it off. Go slow, pull evenly, re-grip often. To remove that nasty "sticky stuff" Gila makes a product called Tint Off. This product will turn the sticky stuff into a jelly-like texture allowing for easy scraping with the razor blade.I have removed enough of it to know...

old topic... but since it rises from the depthsTint off if excellent but Bug and Tar remover is the best, cheapest and most readily available stuff that works great.Goo-gone sucks for this job... but is great for other things.
