rear view mirror vibe-ration

Post by TSvibe »

Love my vibe but the rear view mirror vibrates badly with any bass on the stereo at all. I rented a 2005 vibe before I bought mine and it did it as well.Seems like the mirror is pretty light anybody attach a little extra weight to it to help or am I alone in this complaint? Thanks!

Thanks! You knowm something I noticed the other day, I was putting my window shade things in the window and the rear-view mirror popped right off! It slid up, guess the screw was loose, probably from vibration as well! Might try tightening that first and see if it makes any difference, I still haven't tightened mine yet. Otherwise, to me it seems the vibration comes from the casing around the actual mirror.

Which mirror is this, by the way?Try getting a torx screwdriver (can't recall what size though!) and tighten it up.. Hopefully it just needs some tightening!I had no problems with my original mirror (which was the one w/o map lights for a moon & tunes car) but when I replaced it with an auto dimming one, that mirror wasn't as solid so it vibrated more. If you're not under warranty or whatever and need a mirror, I still have my original mirror sitting at home boxed up, I have no use for it. If you don't have the map lights, it should work fine.

When I installed the compass mirror I bought in a junkyard, it vibrated badly, almost to the point you couldn't look out of it. I loosened the Torx screw, removed the mirror from the windshield, and slightly pried the edges of the mounting bracket in, to make a tighter fit.If just tightening the Torx screw doesn't work, give it a try, but BE CAREFUL! If you pry too hard, you may end up holding a broken mirror in your hand.
Mods: 04 center armrest, 04 Matrix AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Electrochromatic rear view mirror w/compass, GM hood protector, Ventvisors on doors and moonroof, one-touch close moonroof. added 12v outlet in console, Goodyear TripleTred tires, Sirius satellite radio.
