Armrest help

Post by TSvibe »

Ok VibeGodz, need a little help here.I'm trying to get a hold of the older taller armrest. The two part one to replace the one part piece on my 2006 Vibe.Looking for the Toyota Matrix part as suggested.I ordered part number58905-02210-B1 from Toyota of Grapevine and when I received the part it was the shorter top like I already have.58905-02220-B1Bummer.When I called they insisted it was the correct part.I called Mechanicsville Toyota as suggested on the net and they looked up the two part numbers and said the diagram looked the same on both (just one piece).I don't want to reorder from Mechanicsville and get the same part. They said I would have to find a dealer that had both in stock so they could look at them but I don't know who that would be.....Any suggestions?

you might start calling the junk yards and see if they have one they can sell you.

Thanks NorthVibe.Perfect.I'll carry this down to my local dealer and make sure we get the right thing and I'll send a copy of this back with the part Toyota of Grapevine sent in error. It looks like the 58905-02220-B1 is for the 2003 base model and may be short and the 58905-02210-B1 is tall/two parts and is for the 2003 XR and XRS.You're Awesome.

If you happen to find an '06 in the junkyard while you are looking for your taller armrest... let me know. I want the new '06 sideskirts to put on my 2005.The newer armrest is the way to go... I got mine off an '03 and it is great!

Hi. I just bought a vibe yesterday. Did you get the correct armrest when you ordered - have you received it yet?My arm doesn't reach the armrest, and I have a shoulder problem where I need it to rest on the armrest - so am looking for it.Meg

Junkyards are the best bet. If you can get the whole console from an '03-'04, you'll also have the 12v power port that GM conveniently left off the '05s and '06s.
Mods: 04 center armrest, 04 Matrix AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Electrochromatic rear view mirror w/compass, GM hood protector, Ventvisors on doors and moonroof, one-touch close moonroof. added 12v outlet in console, Goodyear TripleTred tires, Sirius satellite radio.

Thanks.I just wanted to doublecheck this:What years did the Toyota Matrix have the taller armrest? Is 2003-4 Correct?Did the Pontiac Vibe have it in the past - and what years would be the right one? Thanks.Meg

Hey Meg, congrats on the purchase! The armrest is too low. I don't know if the vibe ever had the correct (taller) armrest.Maybe the other kinds folks here can help you.I did order the part from my local toyota dealer and they did get it for me.It is the correct taller armrest and it's a huge improvement as well as giving you a swell little junk tray. The correct part I got originally came on a 2003 toyota matrix XR or XRS.The base model that year had the shorter one.The part number you want is 58905-02210-B1.You can find it on the net for about 70-80 bucks but I bought mine at the local dealer just so I could make sure it was correct before I payed for it this time. The total was about 100.00.The first time I ordered the people got the wrong part in the wrong bag and they even sent the correct bag in the bottom of the box..... Good luck, with that part number you should be fine but if they ask for a vin number use this one VIN: 2T1KR32E83C080649It's off a 2003 matrix xr that has the taller armrest.

For anyone who's interested - Camp Auto Salvage in Barberton, OH has a dark gray console out of on '04, which has both the taller armrest and the 12v socket built in. Their # is (800)745-0655.He was willing to sell it to me for $50 today. Since I already have one, I took a pass. Now, the crossbars for the roof rack? Somebody already beat me to them!

Thanks for all your help.I just sold my old car which is a huge relief - Now I won't have to be making two car payments at once. I sold it to the Kia dealer - now I believe it when I read that a dealer who deals in your car might be willing to give you a higher price for it than a trade in - I got $1650 more from Kia than the Pontiac dealer was willing to give me - which is good cause I owed more on the car than it was worth - so only had to pay a little extra to be free of the loan. What a relief.Meg
