I quick note to go with this...There are 42 US-gallons in a barrel of crude oil..of which, approximately 19.6 gallons constitute those fine ingredients that make up gasoline...So if there are 19.6 gallons per barrel, then the Vibe GT has been responsible for a little more than 51 barrels (bbls) of crude oil...of which 30 barrels (58%) probably came from an international source...51 bbls....wow...that's a lot of barrels...

engineertwin2, that's some great record keeping....and thanks for the info! I just got my Vibe about 4 weeks ago and still have all my gas receipts. I think I'll start doing the same.

Wow, great info! Do you have a spreadsheet or something you keep everything in? I created one and have been keeping track as well, but it is no way as detailed as yours!
Great idea, engineertwin2. You definitely nailed me on the mileage performance, even if my cost was less. Here are my 1000th gallon stats, as of 01/23/2006:2004 Pontiac Vibe Base AutoPurchased: 4/26/2004 w/ 26 miles (almost a year before et2)Ownership: 637 daysOdometer: 28,596 milesTotal Fuel Purchased: 1,006.625 gallonsCost of Fuel Purchased: $2,099.01Fuel Cost per Mile: $0.0734Historical Fuel Economy: 28.41 mpgMax Fuel Economy: 39.9 mpg (October 7-9, 2006 - San Antonio Meet)Min Fuel Economy: 24.35 mpg (July 1-7, 2006 - Installed CAI that week!)Gas Tank Fill-Ups: 88 Max Fuel Added: 14.06 gal (May 12, 2005)Min. I created one and have been keeping track as well, but it is no way as detailed as yours! Yep, I got a spreadsheet. I just keep a little pocket note book in the car (in the compartment on the left, below the hatch release button) and just input the data later. I record the date, the number of gallons, the total cost, and calculate the MPGs. Everything else can be derived from that information. The spreadsheet also holds insurance payments, car payments, vehicle maintenance, etc. I use it to calculate my per mile cost of ownership...(attempting to put a price on convenience)...this also helps me out with estimating various maintenance costs, and other projections...By the way, current cost per mile is $0.442...but if you take out my lust for new rims it would actually by $0.408. This is also elevated because I make higher monthly payments than what is due...Compare this to Edmunds.com reporting a cost per mile of $0.50 for the Vibe...not too shabby

Good stuff. Anybody want to share their snazzy lil' spreadsheets? I'm wanting one that will automagically calculate stuff for me, but I don't know enough about Excel to make one that will keep running totals and averages...
