I haven't read of anyone using the new SIR-GM1 Tuner on the Vibe yet, but I would definitely recommend checking out the Sirius Backstage Forums, particularly this post on the SIR-GM1. If you don't hear anything here soon, post up over there. Another good group of people helping out with Sirius-related items.
I'm having a similar problem with my '05 Vibe (M&T, single-disc, non-XM), except mine won't come on AT ALL. I just installed my second SIR-GM1 with the same results, so I think it may be an issue with the head unit or the car's data bus.Right now I'm letting the car sit with the battery disconnected for a while, to see if it causes something to "reboot."Does anyone know if there is a data bus or control module between the satellite radio harness in the cargo area, and the 12-pin plug that goes into the head unit? If so, is there some way to "flash" the memory so it will recognize the addition of a satellite radio receiver? If this doesn't work I'm just going to send it back and wait. Guess that's what I get for trying to be the first on my block with this upgrade...

It's very possible that the SIR-GM1 will not work in ANY Vibe. The documentation i've seen on it say "2003+ GM vehicle", which generally refers to cars with the Class II radios, which no Vibe has. I think the XM / Onstar modules in the Vibes are not 'standard' newer GM equipment, and were tailored for the Vibe. You may be out of luck on this one..

According to the packaging (not that it's the ultimate authority) the SIR-GM1 works on '04 and later Vibes that have a BAND button on the head unit (versus an AM/FM button).Round two: Disconnected the battery and let the car sit for an hour or so. Reconnected the battery, started the car, turned on the radio and pressed the BAND button to cycle through the frequencies. Went from FM1 to FM2 to AM to...wait a minute! "S1" appears on the display for a second or two, then the radio switches itself back to FM1. Can't get back to S1 again, either.Well, I'll try disconnecting the battery again and holding my mouth a different way. If that doesn't work I'll send it back to Crutchfield again and try this all over again in a few months, by which time they will hopefully have worked out the issues.

I was psyched to hear that Crutchfield finally got these in, and bummed when BuzzDog can't get his to work. I called Crutchfield, and their usually award-winning customer service coludn't tell me for sure if it would work in my "05 w/M&T. They suggested that I buy one and "try it". Please keep us posted, for I fear that the lack of the Class II bus may be why this cool add-on will not work in the Vibe.
Mods: 04 center armrest, 04 Matrix AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Electrochromatic rear view mirror w/compass, GM hood protector, Ventvisors on doors and moonroof, one-touch close moonroof. added 12v outlet in console, Goodyear TripleTred tires, Sirius satellite radio.
So if I'm understanding right..... I could hook a sir-gm1 tuner up to my factory Vibe stereo and get the CD quality Sirius satelitte radio and not the FM quality like if I was to use a FM modulator? I wonder if this will work on Canadian vibes since our Sirius channel offering is different that the US. In order for this to work would I have had to order the car with XM first? Does the antenna and stuff come with this tuner?

Response to the email I sent Sirius.....At this time the SIR-GM1 is only available for purchase in the US, andno Canadian release date has been communicated to us.You certainly can activate the American version of this tuner in Canada! However, there is one problem that you may notice, and that is mostAmerican receivers will not pick up 5 of the 10 exclusive Canadianchannels.Plug & Play units like the Sportster 4, Sirius S50 and other newerreceivers are equipped with the Generation 3 Chipset. This willsometimes enable them to access higher channels giving them all of theCanadian programming but because these receivers are made for Americanuse, we cannot gaurantee the availability of these Canadian channels. To ensure you receive the other 5 exclusive Canadian channels, werecommend you purchase a Canadian made Plug & Play unit.-----------As for the 5/10 exclusive channels, here's what they say (they reply almost instantly to emails!!!!)....Due to the difference in the electronic components, these are thechannels that might not be able to activate with your tuner:Hardcore Sports Radio // Ch. 186Radio Canada International (RCI) Plus // Ch. 188Canadian Weather Network // Ch. 185Infoplus // Ch. 187Rock Velours // Ch. 192Energie2 // Ch. 193-----------I would love to hear though if you managed to get this working in your Vibe!

I finally gave up and sent mine back to Crutchfield. Hopefully they - or Directed Electronics (the manufacturer) - will figure something out and incorporate it into a later release. But for now I've spent time on the phone with both companies and it appears that no one know why this was listed as an application for the Vibe, nor do they know how to get it to work for more than 10 seconds.

Before the SIR-GM1, they had another option from Soundgate that was primarily used. It looks like it is stating for 04 and 05 Vibes only:http://www.tss-radio.com/kngm1-package-p-3703.htmlI can't say this will work but I know people have used this combination in the past on other vehicles.Other than that, the last decent options would be a plug-and-play radio with an FM modulator or a new head-unit w/ applicable Sirius tuner. I'm running the latter, a Kenwood head-unit with the SIR-KEN1 Sirius tuner. That would be the best sound quality possible due to direct connection.
More than likely not, as the NAV system is designed to work only with the accompianing CD Changer.
