I'd almost say youbetchya... they rolled off the line right behind the '05s with no changeover. But without actually seeing the back of an 06 trix radio I couldn't tell you fer sure.
You're going to need the entire radio bezel off the 2005+ Matrix. The Vibe for '05+ had/has the same bezel that it always had, but the Matrix had a completely different one with a standalone clock, a larger radio opening, etc... And the radio itself is Toyota so you may want to double-check the wiring harness on a 2005+ Matrix to see if it was changed. For <'04 they had the Delphi radios, thus GM-compatible harnesses, but I don't know if that's the case anymore so the radio may not work with your car's harness...

So if you can snag a radio from one of those junkyards that whacks the harness off the car itself and sells that with the radio, then you buy the bezel and such, then maybe it would work. Probably would need an antenna adapter to go from Motorola to GM too, I bet - I doubt Toyota kept the mini GM plug either if they went through all the trouble to change the rest of the harness to meet their specs. Blah, too much trouble to go through. So, raging was right.

I'd found a 6 Disc w/cassette on eBay from an 06 Matrix. Glad to find this out before I bought it, pulled the dash apart and discovered that what I'd hope would be a simple swap would be a weekend from hell.
