Vibration

Post by JamaicanVibe »

Recently, my 03 Vibe while sitting at a red light vibrates/shakes. it is not violent, but if you are paying attention you can feel it. What do you guys think is the problem?

Does it do it with/without AC on? Does your engine rpm change at the same time as the vibration? If not check your motor mounts by having someone hold the brake on while shifting into and out of drive/reverse. The motor shouldn't move alot, if it does I would suspect the front mount, but it is always best to replace all three.

how many miles are on it? just 41k? sometimes when motor mounts go out it could shake. I also wonder since its a manual if it could be the clutch/tranny? i dont have experience with manual cars though.

having the ac on or off does not make a difference. The RPMs does not move either. I will try you suggestion. Thank You

did you change your sig? i swear it said GT...unless the coffee made me start to make things up....its been known to happen. If the engine is not in harmonic balance it could vibrate as well. drive around and park the car in your driveway or a lot , pop the hood and get out and check the eninge to see if anything is flopping around more than it should be. If its AWD it could also be the tranny and/or transfer case for the rear drive wheels.

What do you guys think is the problem?mine does the same thing...and since i just got it 2 months ago, i dont know if it is supposed to do that, or if something is wrong...i got it with 46,000 on it, and now it has 51,000...i thought about the motor mounts, but if someone else's is doing it, maybe its supposed to do it?any thoughts with this, would be extremely helpful, not only to me, but probably to jamaicanvibe as well

What's your rpm's at idle? If it's too low that will make the car vibrate.

this came up some time back and I just finished reading an artical in PM that addressed this issue. It said to lossen up the motor mounts then retighten them. should fix the issue. I would use a torque rench when doing it though.
