im needing some new tires for the Vibe. i have the 205/55-16 tire size and want to know which kind of tires i should get for an affordable price.im thinking of getting them at Discount Tire.
I'm in the same boat as you, Nascar. I'll need new tires soon, too. I'm hoping I can get some rims while I'm at it.Sorry I don't know much about tires so I'm just gonna sit back and watch.
#1 suggestion on tires is Goodyear TripleTreds. I've now got 20K on mine and I absolutely love them. A vast improvement in ride quality and road noise from the stock Contis. Yeah, they're pricey, but they have an 80,000 mile treadlife.
Mods: 04 center armrest, 04 Matrix AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Electrochromatic rear view mirror w/compass, GM hood protector, Ventvisors on doors and moonroof, one-touch close moonroof. added 12v outlet in console, Goodyear TripleTred tires, Sirius satellite radio.

Discount Tire Direct has them for $114.00 with free delivery. http://www.discounttiredirect....ANST1 For more performance and 1/2 the moneyhttp://www.discounttiredirect....ANST1 In Texas you don't really need the rain and snow capability of the TripleTred.
I just put some Triple Treads on mine and love them. Only had them 4 days but can't imagine going back to the RSA's. They are a little pricey but the $40 cash card is nice ($80 cash card if you open a line of credit with Good year). Mine are good until 100k now.Good luck in your search.Mike

I recommended the Barum Bravuris. I bought 205/55-16's from Discount Tire a year ago, but apparently they don't carry them now. Barum is a German brand of Continental, but they are a VAST improvement over the 'low budget' Contis that came standard. They have a nice, aggressive tread appearance, but aren't/weren't as noisy as my worn-out Contis. I've put >12,000 miles on them in the last year, and there's been no cupping on the inside edges. Ride is as smooth as the Contis, if not a bit better, and they've stayed in perfect balance. Didn't have much snow around central Indiana last winter, but they were a vast improvement over the Contis.SEARCH GenVibe for Barum Bravuris to see some of the many threads that mention them.Googling Barum Bravuris brought up this current link -->http://www.conti-online.com/ge....html
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.
MSPALMER, Do you have alloy wheels? I have had the balance checked 2 times in the last 3k miles on my RS-A's. 2 tires were out the first time around. NOW all are said to be "balanced". I still have a highway slight shake. Some people are not aware ...your wheel is not suppose to supply a shake message to your hands on the highway. It's either my RS-A's were crap from day one. Or some special balancing needs to be done on the alloys because the outside weights are "stick on" and cannot be put on the edge like steel rims. I only have 7k on my RS-A's. My steelie rims w/snows have no such issues. I don't know if I want to give GoodYear my $$ for supplying sucha crap tire the first time.

I can't believe I missed this... oh well, glad you like the Kuhmo's... I have the AST's (I think) on my vibe and they so far have been a great tire.. no traction problems with the mighty 1.8 No hydroplaning either at 60-70mph in heavy rain. Good choice!
