I've taken my car to two dealers and they have both come back saying, we don't hear the noise. When idling in drive the engine starts to make a chirping noise, like a cricket. If I slip it into Neutral (Automatic) the chirping stops instantly. Then if I put it back in drive the chirping starts as soon as the RPM hits 800.Any thoughts?
you gotta test drive with the dealer and point out the noise or else they'll say "we don't hear anything" every time (assuming warranty still in effect). It sounds like it's a repeatable condition from how you describe it -- so unless it miracusously cures itself when you drive to the dealer, as we all know sometimes happens, you should be able to point it out to them.

How many miles on the car?Does it do it in the mornings after cold soak?Does it do it idling with the AC on?Sounds like it could be the belt or belt and tensioner...
I agree. Mine made the same noise in the low idle rpm and needed a lube at about 15,000 miles.Quote, originally posted by scherry2 »noisy belt tensioner is my guess.
